Annick Press

Annick Press is recognized as one of the most innovative and cutting-edge publishers of books for children and young adults.

Founded in 1975 by Rick Wilks and Anne Millyard, Annick’s reputation was built on original picture books by such popular authors as Robert Munsch and Loris Lesynski. Munsch’s The Paperbag Princess has sold millions of copies and continues to be a bestseller in 15 languages. Other popular picture book authors include:

• Ruth Ohi
• Kathy Stinson
• Hazel Hutchins

While continuing to publish picture books, Annick has added contemporary fiction and non-fiction to its list of outstanding titles. Its many award-winning titles speak to the issues that young people deal with every day: bullying, teen sexuality, advertising, and alienation.

Annick books also make history come alive, from ancient times to the 20th century with such titles as:

• The Apprentice’s Masterpiece: A Story of Medieval Spain
• Kids Who Rule: The Remarkable Lives of Five Child Monarchs
• Flat-Out Rock: Ten Great Bands of the 60s

Annick books have won prestigious awards around the world, including the Michael L. Printz Honor Award for Allan Stratton’s Chanda’s Secrets and ALA/YALSA’s Best Books for Young Adults for Made You Look by Shari Graydon.

Annick also publishes books on science, fantasy, pop culture, and world conflict.

Editorial offices are located in Toronto and Vancouver, where approximately thirty books a year are produced. Annick titles are distributed in North America by Firefly Books.

Annick is extremely active in the area of foreign rights. To date, the company has licensed editions in over 15 languages and 40 countries throughout the world. We also license adaptations for film, T.V., stage and audio.

True to its motto of “Excellence and Innovation in Children’s Literature,” Annick Press is committed to creating dynamic, groundbreaking books by Canadian and international authors. We constantly strive to offer children and teens positive reading experiences that are self-affirming, educational, and entertaining.

Annick Press is a member of the Association of Canadian Publishers.
